Program Note

To Quad is written for two percussionists playing twelve kinds of un-pitched percussion instruments. It was inspired by Samuel Beckett's play Waiting for Godot. Similar to the play, the piece tried to create an environment out of nowhere where two people are moving around, doing stuff and wondering around. They lost the track of time, series of events are happening, and yet not happening. It is about the process itself of waiting for something to happen, which would actually never happen.
